Six direct relief programs targeting the most pressing needs of vulnerable individuals and families in South-East Queensland.
Emergency relief packages provide immediate, essential goods to individuals and families facing acute hardship. Packages are assembled based on household composition and assessed need, and may include non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, infant care essentials, household cleaning supplies and basic clothing items.
All packages are distributed through a confidential, intake-assessed process. Recipients are not required to disclose their circumstances publicly. Our assessment team conducts a brief welfare check and confirms identity before any package is released.
Our food assistance program provides grocery vouchers and perishable food to individuals and households experiencing food insecurity. This program specifically reaches elderly individuals with limited mobility, families with children experiencing sudden financial shock, and recently arrived refugees with limited settlement income.
Food vouchers are issued against major supermarket retailers and are redeemable at the recipient's discretion. There are no restrictions on what food items may be purchased, preserving the dignity and autonomy of recipients.
Structured welfare visits conducted by trained volunteers to isolated, elderly and at-risk individuals in the community. Each visit includes a welfare assessment, safety check, and warm connection. Where additional needs are identified, our team facilitates referrals to appropriate government and non-government agencies.
This program operates in coordination with referral networks. Welfare visitors are trained in safeguarding, mandatory reporting obligations, and culturally appropriate communication.
Assists individuals who cannot independently fund necessary medical aids, mobility equipment, or prescription-related necessities. This program covers items such as walking frames, wheelchair accessories, hearing aid batteries, wound care supplies, and basic pharmaceutical items not covered by existing government concessions.
Applications are assessed by our intake team. Documentation from a treating medical practitioner is required. Assistance is provided directly to the supplier or pharmacy, not as cash to the recipient.
Direct, means-tested financial assistance for individuals and families facing imminent crisis due to sudden and unavoidable financial hardship. Eligible expenses include utility bills facing disconnection, rental arrears, essential transport costs, and basic medical expenses not covered by other programs.
All financial assistance is subject to a formal hardship assessment and approval by our welfare committee. Payments are made directly to the relevant service provider rather than in cash to the recipient, in accordance with best practice guidelines for benevolent relief organisations.
Targeted outreach and ongoing welfare monitoring for elderly individuals, people with disability, and recently arrived migrants experiencing severe social isolation. This program operates through a combination of regular telephone welfare checks, in-person visits, and facilitation of connection to other appropriate community supports.
This program does not involve recreational activities or group events — it is a welfare monitoring and intervention service.
We work with hospitals, social workers, GP practices, community health centres and government agencies to receive and process referrals for individuals in need.
